Wow…just wow. I have so much to say, so be prepared for this Old Mill Wedding. Last January I did my first Bridal Show and needless to say it was quite a crazy experience. Although not a fan of bridal shows, it did lead me to this amazing couple which I am so grateful for. From the start Jennifer and Dustin were so easy to work with, very “go with the flow” and really just wanted me to do what I do, without limitations, and focus on the moments of the day. Jennifer really didn’t care much for “getting ready” pictures or even the little details such as getting a picture of the shoes and dress by themselves. I like to add life to the details by taking a picture of them with you handling them or putting them on. The couple wanted me to focus more on the moments and documenting the experience of the day as it happens. I decided to show up quite a bit early with enough time to catch the girls practicing their flash-mob dance for the reception. When Jennifer was even getting into her dress, she wasn’t nervous at all, she was more concerned about her ability to dance in it. So as she was getting the back of the dress tied up, she started dancing with her arms in the air!
We planned out the timeline to be sure we had enough time for just the 2 of them to have a first look by themselves on the opposite side of Philadelphia . Weather was playing games with us that day, but it didn’t get either of them down. Instead of going to the planned location, I found a building close by so the couple didn’t have to walk far and we had a lot of left over time. We fought off a disgruntled security guard, we battled some insane cold wind, and the bridal party had “Closer” by The Chainsmokers on blast on a bluetooth speaker.
The most important part of the day for Jennifer and Dustin was the intimate Ceremony they both had. I will say, it was emotional, and funny, and well, perfect. The officiant compared marriage to a Polaroid camera, and a photograph. He said things like, “you have to love like you take a picture, with intention”. The officiant made comparisons to having good light, and a subject in each image, and comparing those things to their love. He then gave Jennifer and Dustin a vintage Polaroid Camera at the alter as a gift to remember to love each-other each and every day. After a private moment with the bride and groom on the alter, they were finally married!
We headed out to the Old Mill Wedding venue in Rose Valley, PA, which was an absolutely breathtaking venue. Old Mill Wedding events are exclusively catered by Conner Catering, who was fabulous to work with. We made use of the property and the amazing light pouring in through the tree line. We ran back inside to start the reception and get the party rockin. Right from Jennifer and Dustin’s intros, Dustin’s dad and brothers welcomed them in with a trumpet introduction, and the bridal party performed a flashmob style dance that took everyone by surprise. There was speeches from parents and friends that were a big ball of emotion and laughter. Once the meals were down, this party turned up and had incredible energy! Check it out! Thank you Moses Cruz for second shooting on this wedding!
